Not so good news from Westwood–the historic Gamble house on Werk Road is facing possible demolition. A coalition of Westwood organizations, including the Westwood Historical Society, is working hard to get historic landmark status for the building to help save it–it was the home of James N. Gamble, inventor of Ivory Soap and the last mayor of Westwood. He lived there from 1875 to his death in 1932. The people of Westwood want to save his home–and they can use your support.
The good news is, it's Fish Fry time in Price Hill, home of all the best fish fries. St. Lawrence has great food and convivial company in the church undercroft; St. William features acoustic guitar music for dine-in customers; St. Teresa has drive-through pickup service, Holy Family only has fish frys the first and last Friday of Lent, but the fish is delicious and you can take a look at the Rookwood tiles that decorate their cafeteria while you are there. And, if you need fish for lunch, before the fish fries open for business, check out the famous fish sandwiches at the Crow's Nest.
The Crow's Nest still has Roots Music Saturdays every second, third, and fourth Saturday, starting at 10 pm with no cover charge. Visit Price Hill's oldest tavern for the best in modern traditional music. Call the Crow's Nest at 921-2980.
The Front Porch Coffeehouse has live music on Fridays and Saturdays–check it out and support a local establishment. The Front Porch Music Calendar has more information or call them at 471-5282.
The Covedale Theatre is currently presenting "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," with music by Neil Sedaka, February 18 through March 7. Call 513/651-2440 for more information or to purchase tickets. And the Sunset Players present "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" February 19 & 20, 26 & 27, and March 5 & 6. Tickets and more information from 513/588-4988.
